What you'll learn in this expert session
Eating disorders are becoming more common in our society. It is most important that health practitioners can identify the signs of a patient who is developing an eating disorder, especially those who have one and are worsening. Only three psychological management strategies have been proven to work, and the earlier the problem is identified, the better the prognosis. These patients need to be intensively managed in order to give them the best chance of early recovery.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the risk factors for eating disorders in patients
- Recognise the signs that indicate a patient with an eating disorder is becoming metabolically unstable
-
Understand how to appropriately refer, support and medically monitor the patient with an eating disorder
