In this presentation, Haematologist, Dr Renee Eslick discusses the importance of iron in pregnancy, how we can determine who is at risk of deficiency and what can be done to ensure adequate iron supplementation. Importantly she will also share practical tips and suggestions on how to improve the tolerability and effectiveness of oral iron supplementation, as well as advising when an intravenous iron infusion is the more appropriate option.

Dr Renee Eslick
Dr Eslick is a Staff Specialist Haematologist at Canberra Hospital and has consulting rooms at National Capital Private Hospital. She has a special interest in haematological disorders affecting women's health and is an accredited obstetric physician. She has a passion for medical education and is the Network Director of Physician Education for Canberra Health Services, and the Vice Chair of the Early Career Committee of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
