In this course, Prof Finlay Macrae AO will present an update on what the guidelines recommend in terms of diagnosing coeliac disease and gluten sensitivity. In addition, he will outline a practical approach to the management of these conditions that will include tips to overcoming common challenges patients face when trying to adopt a gluten-free diet as well as advice on what to do for patients whose abdominal symptoms don't resolve with dietary measures.

About the Expert
Prof Finlay Macrae AO
Prof Finlay Macrae AO is Head of Colorectal Medicine and Genetics at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He has public and private practices focusing on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and familial bowel cancer. He draws on his mature clinical experience and active engagement in new advances in IBD to support his patients both in public and private. His engagement in research brings contemporary thinking to his patients and practice, including in the genetics of risk for bowel cancer, and new therapies for IBD. He trained in London with the world's leading colonoscopist at the time at St Mark's Hospital, bringing this skill to Australia and his practice.
