From delayed diagnoses to anxiety over vaccination safety, patients with cancer are likely to have found COVID-19 and the measures taken to prevent it, detrimental to their well-being. As Prof John Boyages explains, being aware of the COVID-related issues among cancer patients allows health professionals to actively address concerns and barriers, to help these patients achieve the best possible outcome in managing their disease.

About the Expert

Prof John Boyages AM

Prof John Boyages AM is a breast cancer specialist with over 38 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. He trained at the University of Sydney and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard University. He is a Radiation Oncologist at the ICON Cancer Centre Sydney Adventist Hospital and at Gosford. He has published more than 190 research papers. In 2017, he was awarded an Order of Australia for his work with breast cancer and radiation oncology.
