What you'll learn in this expert session
Accurately diagnosing migraine from the wide range of possible causes of headache relies largely on the clinical acumen of the treating doctor and health practitioner. In this comprehensive presentation, neurologist Associate Professor Bronwyn Jenkins presents a practical framework for the assessment of patients with painful headache, differentiating migraine from other, perhaps more pathological, diagnoses. She will also provide an update on the appropriate acute management of migraine as well as new therapies for management of chronic migraine.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the typical features of a migraine
- Distinguish primary and secondary headaches
- Apply the principals of migraine management
- Discuss migraine triggers and their corresponding non-pharmacological treatment
- List pharmaceutical agents for the acute and preventative management of migraines
